FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NOBLESVILLE — At its May 16 regular meeting, the Noblesville Plan Commission voted 7-3 to pass along an unfavorable recommendation to the Noblesville Common Council regarding the proposed gravel extraction plan presented by Beaver Gravel and Hamilton County Parks.

The community grassroots group Don’t Leave It to Beaver would like to extend deep gratitude to the plan commission for valuing and hearing our community’s concerns, and for giving us the opportunity to present at the public meeting alongside the petitioners. Both sides of the issue — the DLITB community members and the petitioners with their representatives — presented thoughtful arguments for and against the operation. We are also thankful to the cityfor working with us to get our concerns heard by our public officials.

We are especially thankful for the many concerned and passionate Hamilton County citizens who marched, attended public meetings, and offered comments during the public comment portion of the Plan Commission meeting.

The Noblesville Common Council will hear arguments on the issue at its June 14 regular meeting and is scheduled to vote on the issue at its June 28 meeting. We look forward to its evaluation of the proposal, which would allow an industrial operation to extract sand and gravel next to hundreds of homes and Potter’s Bridge Park for up to five years.

Concerned citizens can still get involved. Write your Common Council representatives and sign the online petition. Find out more at our website: https://www.dontleaveittobeaver.com/take-action.
